A Victory and a Plan

Yesterday I went for ingredients to make a Tiramisu to take to a Mother Culture meeting.  I know, I know.  It's not the healthy refreshment I should choose to bring!  But I just want to.  While I was in the store I cased the place, looking for a treat like I usually do to enjoy on the way home.  Then I stopped and looked around, and the only other person in that section was fat like me.  I noticed slim people all over the store, but not in the baked yummy section where I was!  And then I chose to walk away thinking, "I am not gonna act like a fat girl up in here!"  :)  Especially considering I have a slice of Tiramisu built into this week.  This is a victory for me, as I've never, NEVER done, thought, or realized that!

Okay, so on with the plan.  As a person, I lack motivation.  We're truth-telling here, right?  So I need visuals and incentives and such to keep me on track.  Here is what I have made to help me with the next 100 pounds:

The Hubs?  He's not that impressed.  He's seen my thermometer before~LOL!  "I don't know why you gotta have a thermometer," says he.  But he does plan to put together a list of "prizes" for me to work toward.  Yeah, he's all that.  :)

Pushin' through the pain!

  1. Haha! Whatever it takes. There for a while, I was stringing beads. One bead on a string for every mile I walked. One bead on a different string for every pound I lost. (Hmmm. This is sounding like a song.)

Every fifth bead was a different color so I could count them up easily. Every so many beds I got a charm for my charm bracelet. :D

Like I said, whatever works. You go, girl.

  2. Oh yeah! Nothing motivates like prizes! When I was in a fitness competition, I decided to motivate myself by allowing myself to buy fresh flowers for my apartment for every 5 pounds I lost. Either flowers or a mani-pedi. Every 15 pounds or so I would let myself go shopping for new cute outfits (in all fairness, that was partially out of necessity, but I would let myself get a cute dress in addition to what I would wear to work).

P.S. I came across your blog when I was searching weight loss/fitness blogs and I think it's really great!

  3. Congrats on the NSV in the store! As the others said, whatever it takes & prizes are good too!
:-) Although with men, what they come up for a prize for you may be a prize for them! ;-)

  4. I think this is a great idea! Plus it is a great way to see visually how far you've come and see your next mini-goal.

Can't wait to see this thermometer full!

  6. Visuals totally motivate me too - I keep a pie chart going of my losses, and I love watching the pounds-to-go slice shrink! And prizes! What a fun bonus!

  8. great JOB ON leaving the baked goods aisle. You also never see the skinny people in the frozen pizza and frozen chicken section. lol. Great job on your twenty pounds lost! you must have been 267 when you started...I was 262 when I started. I have treats built into my plan as well. Thanks for the nice comments on my blog. I really appreciate it..

  9. So glad to see how supportive your husband is!! Hope the prize includes something really really nice. You deserve it!

But I hope one day you don't even notice the sizes of people in the grocery store, though. It gets tiring noticing details like that. Just shop. :-)

  12. Visuals totally help me too...I have a calendar where I keep track of my weight and workouts right in front of my computer so the number stares at me all day.
I also really like have rewards for every 10 pounds that I lose. I might start doing something small every 5...we shall see.
I struggle with motivation but just keep at it!
