I thought I did very well at church yesterday and did not overly partake.  I was as ready as one can be before a weigh-in and was excited about seeing a 250-something number, but alas.  It was not to be.  I feel better about 2 pounds than I did about 5, but I had hoped for more.  In disappointment I did not choose the rest of the day's food well.  Be warned!  MacDonald's french fries are a dieter's crack cocaine, though they have never even been a weakness for me before!  Somehow Sunday they were the best thing I had ever tantalized my taste buds with.  Ever!  Thankfully I have gotten right back on the bandwagon since, as if Sunday never happened...

My issue is that in the past I have easily lost 15 pounds in a month (or even in 2 weeks) with counting calories and exercise, and you could really see a difference after that month.  I think I used to really rejoice whenever my calories came in really low though...  Is that the difference this time?  Why am I not really going for it?

Pushin' through the pain!

  1. oh yes- my dieters crack is buttercream frosting, which is seriously horrible for me. Sometimes I add cake to my frosting too....great job getting back on the bandwagon.

  2. Hey Pauline, McDonalds is a BIG problem for me. I crave Quarter-Pounders wit Cheese. Mmm, I can taste it in my mind. Yeah, it's just like crack. Cheers, Rick

  4. LAFFY TAFFY! I Crave it all day long. The sugary sweet goodness. Isn't that funny how our body tries to tell us what we want? But way to be the boss of YOU and not beat yourself up about it. I choose to get rid of the word "cheated" from my vocabulary and use "splurged" instead. I still know I have to move forward but then it isn't quite so negative. This is about lifestyle changes, right?

  6. Aw, sorry to hear it... you know I'm going through the same garbage. I decided to eat cookie dough and massive amounts of sushi (1 roll is good, not 2! haha) Hang in there lady, we got this!

  7. Good for you for not letting Sunday get you down too much. It's when we let setbacks get to us that the real damage is done. You know...the old, "Well, since I messed up and ate X, I may as well go ahead and eat Y as well." You're doing it right by acknowledging the mistake, then moving forward anyway.

My "crack cocaine" is chocolate chip ice cream with peanut butter sauce on it. Yummy!

  8. chocolate and cereal, those are my kryptonite. (yup, i'm a sugar addict.) but i definitely believe indulging once in a while is a good thing. without it, we'd drive ourselves nuts!

  9. It's tough & I wish so desperately I could impart some sort of wisdom to you, but alas, I don't think I have anything of value really. I think it's easy to get going & see results & be excited in the beginning, but as time goes on I think it gets harder & harder to stay motivated. Try to focus more on short term goals maybe? And at least congratulate yourself for not continuing to eat bad day after day. I think a small indulgence on occasion is needed actually.
